These soup plates have scalloped edges that frame a border with a rare yellow background containing stylized leaf clusters and round star lozenges interspersed with four cobalt cartouches of gilt leaves. The center panel has a fence pattern and a waterscape with trees, flowers, and stylized lily pads. The underside of each plate has the typical underglaze Mason’s Ironstone mark that was the staple mark used from 1820.
