Mid 20th Century Maitland Smith Desk

Maitland Smith desk. Many storage areas. Lovely finish to the surface all around and inside the drawers. The desk is designed with a baby grand piano influence, curved back and sides to be a piece of art from all angles.

Solidly made and covered in a glazed deep cordovan color (between a brown and burgundy) leather accented with classic gilt bordering. Six drawers to the center, each accented with round brass pulls and decorative gilt corners, a pair of large curved-front storage compartments flanking the center drawers, and a pair of curved-lidded compartments to each side of the desk. There are three gilt-bordered drawers to the front apron, each featuring a polished brass pull. The desk has gilt-bordered leather-covered tapered legs with square pad feet. The desk retains a Maitland-Smith brass nameplate to the inside of center front drawer.
