Staffordshire pottery bocage group of large size, ‘Hairdresser’, c. 1820. The very well modelled group, depicting a man curing the hair of a seated lady, whilst she looks in a hand mirror. The figures, dressed in 18th Century costume,, before an elaborate bocage, and set upon a grassy mound base, sprigged with flowering plants.
Decorated in underglaze enamels, and covered in a pearlware glaze.
Height – 24.5 cm, 9 5/8”.
Width – 15.5 cm, 6 1/8”.
Depth – 11.7 cm, 4 5/8”.
Condition – Repair to girls left arm, and mirror. Some typical, minor chips. Otherwise in excellent condition.
