This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver tankard has a baluster form onto a plain spreading circular foot.
The tankard is embellished with later chased stemmed floral and foliate decoration, all on a matte background with an inverted scalloped border to the upper portion.
The body of this tankard is further ornamented with an opposing scroll and leaf bordered shaped cartouche, displaying the engraved initials ‘CNH’.
This antique George IV tankard retains the original hinged hallmarked domed cover surmounted with a shaped cast decorated thumbpiece.
The cover is encircled with two bands of chased floral and foliage decoration, replicating the style of the body and accented with a scalloped bordered vacant cartouche to the upper plateau.
This large quart and a half* tankard is fitted with an impressive opposing scroll handle ornamented with a heart shaped lower terminal.
The hinge is decorated with a pendant drop style ornamentation in junction with the upper portion of the handle.
The circular foot is encircled with further chased floral decoration.
This large and impressive tankard was crafted by the renowned London silversmith William Bateman I.

Condition
This antique quart and a half tankard is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The chased decoration is very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear.
