Vitreous green enamel shade – Cast iron base with stepped detail – Fully re wired – Takes E27fitting bulbs – On/off switch on the cable – German ~ Circa 1920s – 40cm tall x 25cm wide x 20cm deep Bankers Lamps The green banker’s lamp originally gained its popularity in the 1800’s when George Westinghouse, and the Westinghouse Corporation, started to produce and use them. The first banker’s lamps were constructed with dark green glass which sat atop a beautifully construction base of solid brass. Scientific studies have suggested green is actually the perfect color for banker’s lamp shades, as it inspires creativity, and call this the “green effect.” The “green effect” could explain why banker’s lamps are often found on pianos, in art galleries and other areas where creative people flourish and perform. Condition Report Fully re wired with modern electrical components, some small chips to the inside of the enamel shade
